Venture Description:         An easy walk along roadsides and trails through beautiful scenery. Bring warm clothes, good walking boots and binoculars.

As the leaves drop, nature takes on a different look and provides an opportunity to study things we don’t normally see.  How does that vine know to twine around a tree? What has eaten that nut?  What plant produced that berry?  Whose seedpod is this?  Is this pine cone male or female?  This is also a great time of year to see many of our year around resident songbirds (not nearly so many pesky leaves for them to hide behind!) and to get some idea of how they have adapted to the harsher, less plentiful seasons of the year.

The contours of the mountains are much more visible and allow for discussion of the geology of the region and how it affects various habitats and the animal populations found within them. Completely different plant communities can be found within yards of one another – their existence dependent upon exposure, soil, and precipitation levels at that specific place.
